RACING TIPS: Canterbury Best Selection & Value Play 10/9

Midweek Sydney racing heads to Canterbury Park this Wednesday for a brilliant card filled with many runners that will be hoping to make to step towards Saturday grade for the spring carnival. Our analyst is very keen on a returning Coolmore colt that brings a great track/distance record and an emerging Snowden filly that should’ve won in Listed company at the end of last prep.

Our tips are completely free, but make sure you enter your email below to unlock our tips, as we can email you when new tips are available.

Best Selection: R5- Central Coast

Central Coast returns on the back of a couple of sharp Rosehill and Canterbury trial placings where he sat wide in both and crusied to the line under a strong hold. J Mac has retained the ride and will ride 0.5kg over the 55.5kg, which still gets him in well.

He had 2 runs as a 2yo and they were both over this track/distance. In the latest he justified his $1.4 quote with a 0.3L win. It was the fashion in which he did it that suggests he looks better than midweek company. Not often to you see them endure a blocked run from the 400m to the 150m at Canterbury and still gather momentum to win but that is exactly what he did. He should get a nice run around midfield and be strong late with even luck.

Value Selection: R6 – Akaysha

Akaysha looks really well placed resuming in midweek company on the back of a couple of nice trials. The barrier was the only thing that cost the Snowden filly in the Listed Woodland Stakes back in May. She jumped fairly but was forced to settle back towards the rear to find cover. She closed strongly to finish 1.4L 3rd and her final 600m sectional of 33.46s was easily the quickest of the race. She finished off nicely in a recent Rosehill trial. There will need to be some urgency shown the first 200m to ensure she isn’t too far back on the Rail but I’d happily take fence in run somewhere around midfield from Gate 1 over a wide gate.
