Feature spring racing winds down at Sydney this week with the running of the Five Diamonds and the G2 Hot Danish at Rosehill. Our analyst has gone wide of the features and selected a filly from the in form Pride/Godolphin combo and a runner that looks set the benefit from dropping back in trip for Last Race Bjorn as the value play.Â

Best Selection: R9- Taxation
Keen to follow Taxation stepping up to Saturday grade on the back of a nice midweek win over this track/distance 10 days ago. She settled at the rear and looked in trouble at the top of the straight wanting to duck in under pressure. Once Clark had balanced her up, she let down strongly the final 200m to score a tight victory on the line.
It was interesting to hear Pride state post race that he believes she will make black type races by the autumn. She looks one to follow through the BM grades. She gets in really well with only 52kg against the older mares, a weight I don’t expect her to carry through the grades any time soon. I do shy at backing horses unlikely to settle on-speed over the Rosehill 1100m but she did win from back in the field here last start.
Value Selection: R10- Mawjood
Mawjood and Frosty Girl are both promising types and I’m keen to have a two bet play on them in this race. Mawjood returns to 1400m after a 3-week break and I think this was his best distance. He was an impressive 2.5L over this track/distance 3 starts back before being sent a long way for a disappointing 2.3L 4th in the Coonamble Cup over 1600m before backing up 6 days later for a 3L 7th to the talented Vivy Air in the Big Dance Wildcard. They were obviously very keen to get him into the Big Dance and believed he could compete with the likes of Gringotts but his inability to run out a mile failed him. Aside from the favourite, I think the only risk is how much that travel and back up has taken out of him.
