Our analyst has selected a Baker filly that’s been crying out for 1400m with 2 solid 1200m performances and a mare from the same yard coming off an outstanding tick over trial that should also relish stepping up to 1400m.

Best Selection: R6- Within the Law

Within the Law just cannot draw a decent gate this prep, which usually means she ends up at the rear and that does looks likely here. She has won coming from the rear over 1200m before and I just have to be with her after watching her with an eye to this race in 2 great runs over 1200m.

She was excellent hitting the line to finish 0.8L 2nd to Savvy Hallie in the Silver Shadow before settling last and working home solidly without threatening to finish 1.2L 5th in the G2 Furious recording 33.99s  and 11.62s final 600m and 200m sectionals, which were both the quickest for the race. I feel like her run went a little under the radar.

Value Selection: R4- Dance to the Boom

It was easy to be taken with Dance to the Boom’s tick over trial at Rosehill 9 days ago. I liked the way she jumped cleanly from the wide gate but was dragged back to midfield before letting down really strongly to stride away for a 4.5L win. She looks great value at $7 stepping up to 1400m 2nd up off a 2.5L 4th over 1100m 1st up and into that trial.
