Patriots trade linebacker Josh Uche to the Chiefs
November 1, 2024

According to Lior Lampert of FanSided on Tuesday, the Kansas City Chiefs have acquired linebacker Josh Uche of Miami, Florida for a sixth round draft pick in the 2026 National Football League Draft. The Chiefs are the second NFL franchise Uche has played for in his career, as he spent the last five seasons with the New England Patriots.
In 2024, Uche has 13 combined tackles (10 solo tackles and three assisted tackles), two tackles for a loss, three quarterback hits and two sacks. The fact that Uche was traded was not a huge surprise because he was held inactive for the Patriots game against the New York Jets on Sunday. Ironically, without Uche, the Patriots upset the New York Jets 25-22 for only their second win of the 2024 National Football League regular season.
In Uche’s career, he has had 76 combined tackles (58 solo tackles and 18 assisted tackles), 19 tackles for a loss, 34 quarterback hits, two forced fumbles, one fumble recovery and 20.5 sacks. Uche’s fumble recovery came in a 54-13 Patriots romp over the New York Jets on October 24, 2021.
Uche is the second player the Chiefs have acquired via a trade in the last month. On October 24, they acquired wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins from the Tennessee Titans for a conditional fifth round draft pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. The draft pick becomes a fourth round draft pick if Hopkins plays in 60% of the total snaps and if the Chiefs are in the Super Bowl in February. The Chiefs are the only team in the NFL undefeated. They have a perfect record of seven wins and zero losses.
