Our three best tips for the 2024 Rocket Mortgage Classic
June 27, 2024
We are gearing up for the Rocket Mortgage Classic in Detroit, Michigan this weekend. There has been a significant amount of history at the Detroit Golf Club. The course was founded in 1899 by piano and organ manufacturer William R. Farrand, and designed by Donald Ross of Dornoch, Scotland, who was an apprentice to four-time British Open champion Old Tom Morris. Since 2019, the Detroit Golf Club has hosted the Rocket Mortgage Classic. Here are the three golfers we like this week the most.Â
Rickie Fowler
The native of Murietta, California won the 2023 Rocket Mortgage Classic in a three-hole playoff against Canadian Adam Hadwin, and fellow American Collin Morikawa. The Rocket Mortgage Classic was Fowler’s sixth PGA title, and a memorable tournament for me on a personal level. Due to the fact there was no live television coverage for the tournament, for the first time I listened to a golf broadcast on the Internet.

Taylor Moore
The 30-year-old from San Angelo, Texas has one PGA title to his name and that was the 2023 Valspar Championship in Palm Harbor, Florida. Moore defeated fellow American Adam Schenk of Vincennes, Indiana by a stroke after shooting a four round score of -10. Last year at the Rocket Mortgage Classic, Moore was tied for fourth at -21. Over the last year, he has had two more top five finishes. Moore was second at the 2024 Texas Children’s Houston Open (lost to Stephan Jaeger of Germany), and fifth at the 2023 FedEx St. Jude Championship.

Adam Schenk
The 32-year-old is still looking for his first win on the PGA Tour. Since finishing seventh at the 2023 Rocket Mortgage Classic, Schenk was fourth at the 2023 John Deere Classic, sixth at the 2023 St. Jude Championship, and fifth at the 2024 Valero Texas Open.
