Our three best tips for the 2023 John Deere Classic

One of the more intriguing PGA Tour events is on the schedule Thursday as the John Deere Classic will take place from Silvis, Illinois. For years this event directly preceded the British Open. This year there is a two-week gap as players will play either The Scottish Open or the Barbasol Championship next week. Here are our top three tips for the week.
Denny McCarthy
The native of Takoma Park, Maryland has been in the top eight in three of his last six events. He was eighth at the Wells Fargo Championship, second at the Memorial, and seventh at the Travelers Championship. At the Memorial last month, McCarthy had a four round score of -7, only to lose to Norway’s Viktor Hovland in a playoff. He is currently ranked 34th in the world.

Adam Schenk
Schenk, a native of Vincennes, Indiana, has also put together some solid results in recent weeks. He was second at the Charles Schwab Challenge, seventh at the Memorial and seventh at the Rocket Mortgage Classic last week in Detroit. Like McCarthy, Schenk has been in a playoff recently. At the Charles Schwab Challenge, the 31-year-old who is currently 51st in the world, shot a four round score of -8 before losing to Emiliano Grillo of Resistencia, Argentina in a playoff.

Taylor Moore
Moore, a native of San Angelo, Texas, won earlier this calendar year at the Valspar Championship. A week ago Moore was in contention throughout the Rocket Mortgage Classic, before settling for fourth place.
