Opinion: Possible turmoil in Milwaukee after being upset by Wizards

For the second time in a week, the Washington Wizards won a NBA game as a double digit underdog. Last Tuesday, they defeated the Atlanta Hawks 132-113 as an 11 point underdog. Then on Monday, the Wizards beat the Milwaukee Bucks 129-126 as a 10 point underdog.

This was only the Wizards’s third win all year. Their only other win came on October 24, when they beat the Dallas Mavericks 117-107. Between the wins over Dallas and Atlanta, the Wizards lost 14 straight games. Washington improved to 3-16, and the Bucks dropped to 9-13.

Six Wizards reached double digits in points. Guard CJ McCollum of Canton, Ohio led the Wizards in scoring with 28 points. Meanwhile, power forward Marvin Bailey III of Tempe, Arizona had 22 points, small forward Cam Whitmore of Odenton, Maryland had 17 points, center Tristan Vukcevic of Siena, Italy had 16 points, small forward Khris Middleton of Charleston, South Carolina had 15 points, and small forward Justin Champagnie of Brooklyn, New York had 10 points.

Since the loss, there is actually turmoil in Milwaukee. According to Brian Windhurst and Shams Charania of ESPN, there are reports that Bucks star center and former MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo has expressed his frustration with the Milwaukee organization. Rumours have developed that Antetokounmpo could soon be traded. Two teams possibly in the mix are the Los Angeles Lakers and New York Knicks.

The Toronto Raptors showed great interest in Antetokounmpo while Masai Ujuri was in charge of player personnel decisions. However, the Raptors parted ways with Ujiri in June, following the 2025-26 NBA season. It will be interesting to see if the current Raptors general manager Bobby Webster will make a run at the Greek Freak.
