Opinion: Is Dustin The Key To The Tigers?

CAN the Richmond Tigers kickstart their era for another tilt at glory is the problem that is facing AFL punters this season?

The answer to that question revolves around the form of superstar Dustin Martin, the triple Norm Smith medallist and Brownlow Medallist.

Since the middle of 2021 when Martin injured his kidney in an incident with Brisbane’s Mitch Robinson he has hardly been seen on the football ground and he has shown only glimpses of his brilliant best.

Martin also battled personal problems last season making his comeback from his serious injury even tougher to handle.

Martin only played nine games last season as he struggled to get over a hamstring injury.

Martin is training the house down in this pre-season which indicates he’s still fully committed to the Tiger’s in their attempt to land their fourth premiership in seven years.

Richmond have recruited GWS star on ballers Tim Taranto and Jacob Hooper which will mean Martin can spend more time forward.

Barring injury setbacks, you would expect Martin to have a stellar season and that usually goes hand in hand with the Tigers being in contention for the flag.
