Opinion: Hamilton’s Hypocritical Comments Prove He Is Living On Another Planet
October 21, 2019
Lewis Hamilton took to his Instagram page to tell his his 13.2M followers “Go Vegan, it is the only way to truly save our planet,” but could it be more hypocritical coming from someone that flies around the world in a jet plane to drive an F1 car for a living?
The five-time Formula One world champion urged his readers to “do some research”, “find compassion” and prevent “deforestation, animal cruelty, our seas and climate decaying.”
Addressing the future of the Earth, the 34-year-old said human extinction is becoming “more and more likely as we overuse our resources”.
Lewis is surely aware that the F1 car he screams around each race track at incredible speeds is powered by the very same resources he is condemning everyone for overusing but he seems to think this excludes him.
This is the very same person that has previously owned a private jet to travel all over the world spewing out carbon.
It must be the $70m per year salary that helps him feel better about that.
He also went on to state that “agriculture farming” was the biggest pollutant, and “far more than our travel industry combined”.
We’re wondering if Lewis thought about the “agriculture farming” whilst driving his luxury car collection which contains hand stitched leather seats.
“Go Vegan, it is the only way to truly save our planet,” Hamilton said in the post which sits alongside pictures of Hamilton modelling clothes, posing with fast cars, celebrating victories or with his dog.
The ace driver continued: “We were taught that eating animal products was good for us but we’ve been lied to for hundreds of years.”
He also said it had taken him “32 years to understand the impact I am having on the world and I’m figuring out daily what I can do to play a better part”.
“I want my life to mean something and honestly up until now my life’s had no meaning.
But he was not optimistic about the world joining his cause concluding: “Honestly I feel like giving up on everything. Shut down completely.
“Why bother when the world is such a mess and people don’t seem to care. I’m going to take a moment away to gather my thoughts.
“Thank you to all of you who give a damn about the world.”
Lewis’ thoughtful words seem to have fallen short as it’s hard to convince people to join your crusade when you are only prepared to stick to the cause when it suits your luxurious and expensive lifestyle.
Lewis has since removed the post.
