MELBOURNE STORM VS CANBERRA RAIDERS – THURSDAY AUGUST 12, 7:50PM, AAMI PARK

The Storm confirmed they are the team to beat this season with a strong performance against Manly who have been one of the form teams of the competition.

The Raiders, on the other hand, find themselves back in the eight following a gutsy win over the Dragons.

Ricky Stuart’s men were impressive in the first half and showed some great defence in the second half to keep St George off the scoreboard.

ST GEORGE-ILLAWARRA DRAGONS VS PENRITH PANTHERS – FRIDAY AUGUST 13, 6:00PM, WIN STADIUM

The Dragons’ season is on the line here as four straight losses have them sitting in 11th position. They will have a tough task ahead of them with the Panthers looking to bounce back to top form.

The Panthers suffered from an origin hangover but were able to steady the ship with a win against the Roosters, maintaining second spot ahead of their crucial clash with the Rabbitohs next week.

The worry for the Panthers is they have struggled to score points without Cleary in the lineup which makes the -19.5 line look tricky

Stephen Crichton will return from suspension for Penrith, but Kurt Capewell and Api Koroisau have been hit with bans of their own, while Brent Naden has been recalled at the expense of Taylan May.

NOTE: If Cleary happens to play which looks unlikely we may update these bets so check back on game day.

BRISBANE BRONCOS VS SYDNEY ROOSTERS – FRIDAY AUGUST 13, 7:55PM, SUNCORP STADIUM

The Roosters had a chance to jump back into the top four last week but failed to defeat the Panthers and remain in fifth position, behind the Eels on point differential.

Meanwhile, the Broncos were full of confidence from their big win over the Cowboys in round 20 but couldn’t convert it into another victory after falling to the Knights.

The Roosters have played to a strong 6-4 record at the line following a previous loss over the last 12 months

SOUTH SYDNEY RABBITOHS VS GOLD COAST TITANS – SATURDAY AUGUST 14, 3:00PM, CENTRAL COAST STADIUM

The bunnies couldn’t have been more impressive in their victory over the Eels last week as they dominated for the entire 80 mins.

The Titans were also dominant against a struggling Cowboys outfit but will need to improve if they’re to trouble Souths here.

The last three games between the Rabbits and Titans have all gone Over the Total, with the most recent installment resulting in a 40-30 South Sydney win earlier in April

NORTH QUEENSLAND COWBOYS VS WESTS TIGERS – SATURDAY AUGUST 14, 5:30PM, QUEENSLAND COUNTRY BANK STADIUM

The Cowboys are quickly becoming the worst team in the competition after 8 straight losses. If they don’t want to be embarrassed again here they will have to have better ball control  & defence.

The Wests Tigers still have a slim mathematical chance of making the eight but if they want to keep that alive they will have to make a statement here.

MANLY SEA EAGLES VS PARRAMATTA EELS – SATURDAY AUGUST 14, 7:35PM, 4 PINES PARK

Manly may have lost last week but they certainly showed they are a team to fear in the finals as they shook the Storm at stages and forced them to grind out a win.

Parramatta has slumped to three losses on the trot following a lacklustre effort against the Bunnies last week, and it’s not like they can point to injuries being the problem.

Manly put up 28 points on Parramatta in a blowout defeat earlier in May, and the loss of hooker Reed Mahoney only makes life tougher for the blue and gold.

NEW ZEALAND WARRIORS VS CANTERBURY BULLDOGS – SUNDAY AUGUST 15, 2:00PM, MORETON DAILY STADIUM

The Warriors are a chance of sneaking into the top 8 if things go their way for the rest of the season and they can keep those chances alive by defeating a struggling Bulldogs side here.

The Dogs have lost seven straight games dating back to June and their track record against New Zealand doesn’t exactly make for pleasant reading.

The Warriors have won three of their last four games against the Bulldogs, while they’ve also covered the line in their last two games as the home favourite against Canterbury.

CRONULLA SHARKS VS NEWCASTLE KNIGHTS – SUNDAY AUGUST 15, 4:05PM, NESTRATA JUBILEE STADIUM

This could be the most important and most entertaining games of the round with both teams needing a win to keep their top 8 chances alive.

The Knights won a 26-22 thriller back in April as Kalyn Ponga starred with a two-try performance. It’s fair to say they look a much different team now that Mitchell Pearce has returned to the side.
