Broncos too strong for Bunnies at Suncorp

The Broncos bounced back from their Las Vegas defeat with a 28-18 win over the Rabbitohs on Thursday night behind doubles to Reece Walsh and Deine Mariner.

The Sharks stormed home to take down the Bulldogs 25-6 at PointsBet Stadium on Friday evening.

An early Briton Nikora sin-bin saw the visitors score first through Blake Wilson before Braydon Trindall answered for the hosts as the scores remained level at six-apiece heading into the sheds.

Sione Katoa broke the deadlock 55 minutes in before Ronaldo Mulitalo and Teig Wilton joined him in the try-scorers column late.

The Panthers came away with their opening win of 2024 taking down Parramatta 26-18 in front of a full house at BlueBet Stadium on Friday night.

An energetic opening saw Joey Lussick score the opening points of the night just two minutes in before the hosts answered through tries to Dylan Edwards and Moses Leota.

Shaun Lane and Sunia Turuva then traded tries before the back-and-forth nature of the contest continued with J’maine Hopgood crossing just shy of the break.

Turuva grabbed a double 52 minutes in before Izack Tago crossed the following set as the Panthers shut the Eels out in the second half to secure a strong win.

Tago scored a try and ran for 245 metres with nine tackle breaks and six line breaks whilst Edwards scored a try, assisted on another, and ran for a game-high 262 metres.

Raiders continue strong start to year with win vs. Wests Tigers

The Raiders rocketed atop the competition ladder with a 32-12 win over the Wests Tigers in the nation’s capital on Saturday afternoon.

The hosts got off to a hot start with tries to Danny Levi and Ethan Strange before the Wests Tigers hit pair with a pair of tries in the space of three minutes to Samuela Fainu and Apisai Koroisau.

The Cowboys pulled off a come-from-behind 21-20 win over the Knights in Townsville on Saturday evening thanks to a Chad Townsend field goal in golden point.

A first half Adam Elliott double put the Knights up 12-0 heading into the break before the Cows stormed back with tries to Townsend and Kyle Feldt early in the second stanza.

Greg Marzhew scored to put the visitors ahead by more than a converted try before Tom Dearden crossed to keep the Cowboys in it.

Jeremiah Nanai went over to send the game to golden point with Townsend booting walk-off one-pointer in the 81st minute.

Scott Drinkwater assisted on a try and ran for 192 metres with four tackle breaks whilst Reuben Cotter ran for 94 metres and made 53 tackles.

Elliott scored two, ran for 144 metres, and made 44 tackles whilst Dane Gagai ran for 131 metres with nine tackle breaks.


Coates Magic: Storm stun Warriors with last-minute try

A phenomenal Xavier Coates try on the stroke of the full-time hooter propelled the Storm to an incredible 30-26 win over the Warriors at AAMI Park on Saturday night.

Tries to Will Warbrick, Nick Meaney, and Ryan Papenhuyzen saw the Storm leap out to an 18-6 halftime lead before Dallin Watene-Zelezniak and Jackson Ford scored early in the second stanza to drag the visitors back into it.

Marcelo Montoya crossed to put the Warriors ahead before Papenhuyzen grabbed a second 77 minutes in to keep Melbourne’s hopes alive before Coates rocketed into the air and evaded the cover defence as time expired to win it of for Storm.

Papenhuyzen scored two and ran for 162 metres with seven tackle breaks whilst Jahrome Hughes assisted on two tries and ran for 113 metres with five tackle breaks.

Watene-Zelezniak scored two and ran for 196 metres whilst Taine Tuaupiki assisted on a try and ran for 180 metres with four tackle breaks.


Sea Eagles impress in win over Roosters

Manly remain undefeated on the year having taken down the Roosters 21-14 at 4 Pines Park on Sunday afternoon.

A tight first half saw the Sea Eagles take a 12-10 lead into the break with Lachlan Croker and Toluta’u Koula the try-scorers for the hosts and Daniel Tupou and James Tedesco the try-scorers for the visitors.

Tommy Talau scored one early in the second half to improve Manly’s lead before Dom Young finished off a long-range effort to grab his first try as a Rooster.

A late Daly Cherry-Evans field goal sealed a handy win for Manly.

Koula scored a try, assisted on another, and ran for 173 metres for the Sea Eagles whilst Luke Brooks assisted on a try and ran for 126 metres.

Tedesco scored a try, assisted on two others, and ran for 180 metres whilst Victor Radley ran for 113 metres and made 38 tackles.


Dolphins bounce back with Dragons thumping

The Dolphins responded after a poor Round 1 loss trouncing the Dragons 38-0 at Redcliffe on Sunday night.

Quick tries to Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow and Jamayne Isaako made for a dream start for the hosts before Mark Nicholls crossed on the other side of the break to make things all the more difficult for the Red V.

Jake Averillo and Jeremy Marshall-King both nabbed second half tries but it was Tabuai-Fidow’s night with the star fullback crossing twice more to seal the first hat-trick of his NRL career.

Tabuai-Fidow scored three and ran for 204 metres with four tackle breaks whilst Herbie Farnworth assisted on a line break and ran for 179 metres with four tackle breaks.
