NRL Round 3 Preview: The Hurricane’s Tips & Staking Plan
May 26, 2020
We’re pleased to say that professional tipster, The Hurricane, has joined the team and will supply his expert analysis and tips for the  games he’s most confident with each week.
My gut feel for this week
the new rule, one referee and no crowds could lead to higher than usual match totals which means the TMP Overs and 13+ markets should be considered.
Broncos v Eels – 7:50pm Thursday 28th @ Suncorp
- My Line: Broncos +2.5
- Market: Broncos -1.5
Parramatta smacked the Broncos in the finals last year but we need to look beyond that. The Rd24 clash at Suncorp is probably a better guide here. That Day Broncos Escaped 17-16 but it was 3 tries to 2 in favour of the Eels. Nathan Brown was out that day as he is here, Likewise Tevita Pangai Junior. David Fifita is out though which is where the dial gets turned here the Eels way. He had a stormer last time they met at Suncorp and scored 1 of their only two tries.
The back 3 for the Eels are far better ball carriers than the Bronco trio which means the Eels should be afforded the bulk of the field position.
Cowboys v Titans – 6pm Friday 29th @ QLD Country Bank
- My Line: Titans +5.5
- Market: Titans +8.0
Michael Morgan is not an inconsequential out. The Cowboys enter this one with two inexperienced halves. I actually like the Cowboys in futures bets etc however for this one it feels as the Cowboys are heavily overrated here and the Titans too aggressively dismissed.
Bryce Cartwright parked not negative. Justin Holbrook is a very very good coach and has time to ponder on his first two rounds as an NRL coach. I’m definitely thinking Cowboys win however the 8 start, far out Brussell Sprout, Too Big!

Sharks v Tigers – 5:30pm Saturday 30th @ Bankwest
- My Line: 0.0
- Market: Tigers +2.0
One thing you know for sure with the Tigers they will be physically ready to go here. Michael Maguire and Head Trainer Andrew Gray are two of the hardest taskmasters out there. Expecting a big month for the Tigers to set them up for a Top 8 position in 2020. Love the $3 about them to play finals.
Young former Storm Rake Harry Grant is a monumental get for Wests. Douehie now moves to Fullback. They look set to roar. As for Cronulla they lose Josh Morris to the Roosters & enter this one 0-2 after falling off a cliff in the final game of 2019.
Moylan and Dugan are all expected back which reads well on paper however neither come into this with residual match fitness. Bankwest stadium can be a tricky venue for newcomers.
The Tigers know all about this, they were embarrassed at their first two outings there but the last 3 have been handy showings against good sides including a win over Souths. Cronulla have never played there.
Panthers v Knights – 4:05pm Sunday 31st @ Campbelltown
- My Line: Panthers +0.5
- Market: Knights +2.0
Kalyn Ponga out for the Knights. Nathan Cleary sidelined for the Pennies. Both come into this 2-0. The Knights have only had 4 tries scored on them compared to 7 which the Panthers have conceded (5 by the Dragons!). Adam O’Brien comes from the defensive school of Bellamy and its showing.
To win a comp you need to be around the 15 or less ppg in the against column. Penrith has already conceded 42 points this year in two matches. They averaged almost 20 last year. Its a problem which they have had for many years that the market doesn’t recognise. Its a trait not uncommon with young talented sides short on leaders.
