Corey Horsburgh’s future at the Canberra Raiders is suddenly under the spotlight, with the Queensland representative forward reportedly weighing an early exit that could pave the way for a return home.
The Brisbane Broncos have emerged as one of several clubs monitoring Horsburgh’s situation as uncertainty grows over whether he will see out the final year of his Raiders contract.
According to The Courier-Mail, Horsburgh is considering leaving Canberra before the end of his current deal despite being contracted through 2027.
The report states the Broncos, Dolphins and Gold Coast Titans are all potential destinations should the hard-running front-rower decide to return to Queensland.

The Broncos are viewed as a particularly intriguing option.
With several experienced forwards leaving Brisbane over the next 12 months, Horsburgh would add State of Origin experience, aggression and middle-forward depth to Michael Maguire’s pack as the club looks to rebound from a disappointing 2026 campaign.
Horsburgh has developed into one of the Raiders’ most important forwards over the past two seasons.
After forcing his way back into Ricky Stuart’s side following a difficult 2024 campaign, the fiery prop earned a recall to the Queensland State of Origin team and has re-established himself as one of the competition’s premier middle forwards.
While no formal request has been lodged, reports suggest family considerations and the opportunity to move closer to home are factors in Horsburgh’s thinking.
The Raiders would undoubtedly be reluctant to lose one of their enforcers.
Canberra sits firmly in the premiership window and Horsburgh has become a cornerstone of the club’s forward rotation alongside Joe Tapine, providing the physical edge that has helped shape the Raiders’ success.
Any move, however, is unlikely to come cheaply.
Horsburgh remains under contract, meaning any rival club would either need Canberra’s permission for an early release or negotiate a transfer agreement.
For Brisbane, the opportunity to sign a proven Origin forward entering the prime of his career would be difficult to ignore.
Whether the Broncos ultimately make their move remains to be seen.
But with Horsburgh reportedly open to returning to Queensland, one of the NRL’s biggest recruitment stories could just be getting started.
