NRL 2026 round one teams: All-new Bunnies, Campbell out with hurt hammy
March 3, 2026
The rest of the NRL Round One teams are here — happy TLT to all who celebrate — and there’s some very interesting standouts, including shock rookie picks on the Gold Coast and in Canberra, and a huge slate of changes by Wayne Bennett for the Bunnies.
First up is the Storm vs. Eels clash, which has all the added energy of the court case the two clubs have just battled through, and we’d note Zac Lomax won’t be lining up for either team despite that all being resolved on Tuesday. Elsewhere, Jayden Campbell is one of the biggest outs of the early season, with the Titans halfback felled by a hamstring injury.

Storm vs. Eels
Thursday, March 5 at 8PM
AAMI Park
Storm: 1. Sualauvi Faalogo 2. William Warbrick 3. Jack Howarth 4. Moses Leo 5. Nick Meaney 6. Cameron Munster 7. Jahrome Hughes 8. Stefano Utoikamanu 9. Harry Grant 10. Josh King 11. Joe Chan 12. Ativalu Lisati 13. Alec MacDonald 14. Tyran Wishart 15. Cooper Clarke 16. Tui Kamikamica 17. Davvy Moale 18. Preston Conn 19. Siulagi Tuimalatu-Brown 20. Lazarus Vaalepu 21. Angus Hinchey 22. Trent Toelau
Xavier Coates’ replacement has been revealed, with Moses Leo winning the open backline spot (though at centre, with Nick Meaney now out to the wing) over Hugo Peel. Elsewhere, Sua Fa’alogo has been formally named as Ryan Papenhuyzen’s successor at no.1, while Joe Chan, Ativalu Lisati and Alec MacDonald are the forward pack to replace Eli Katoa, Shawn Blore (ankle) and Trent Loeiro (suspended).
Eels: 1. Isaiah Iongi 2. Bailey Simonsson 3. Viliami Penisini 4. Brian Kelly 5. Sean Russell 6. Jonah Pezet 7. Mitchell Moses 8. J’maine Hopgood 9. Ryley Smith 10. Junior Paulo 11. Jack Williams 12. Kitione Kautoga 13. Jack de Belin 14. Dylan Walker 15. Sam Tuivaiti 16. Matt Doorey 17. Tallyn Da Silva 18. Kelma Tuilagi 19. Joash Papali’i 20. Jordan Samrani 21. Charlie Guymer 22. Teancum Brown
Jack De Belin is in to debut for the club at lock, while Jonah Pezet has replaced Dylan Brown (now at the Knights) at five-eighth. Sean Russell has been named as the injury replacement for Josh Addo-Carr (thumb), while Brian Kelly is in the centres. He is playing after Zac Lomax left the club in the offseason, which then started a whole brewing legal battle that seems to have been resolved earlier this week. Either way, Lomax is no longer at the Eels and so obviously won’t be playing in the backline there.
Warriors vs. Roosters
Friday, March 6 at 6PM
Go Media Stadium
Warriors: 1. Charnze Nicoll-Klokstad 2. Dallin Watene-Zelezniak 3. Ali Leiataua 4. Adam Pompey 5. Roger Tuivasa-Sheck 6. Chanel Harris-Tavita 7. Tanah Boyd 8. James Fisher-Harris 9. Wayde Egan 10. Jackson Ford 11. Kurt Capewell 12. Jacob Laban 13. Erin Clark 14. Samuel Healey 15. Demitric Vaimauga 16. Leka Halasima 17. Tanner Stowers-Smith 18. Taine Tuaupiki 20. Morgan Gannon 21. Alofiana Khan-Pereira 22. Luke Hanson 23. Eddie Ieremia-Toeava
Roger Tuivasa-Sheck (hamstring) and five-eighth Chanel Harris-Tavita (calf) have been named, despite concerns they may miss the opening round. Tanah Boyd has been named in the No.7, replacing the injured Luke Metcalf, and new recruit Alofiana Khan-Pereira is on the extended bench. Perhaps the most interesting pick is Jacob Laban, who beat Leka Halasima to a starting role. Halasima may yet get big minutes in the match, but it sounds more like he’ll be used as cover across second row, lock, and centre while Laban plays 80 minutes.
Roosters: 1. James Tedesco 2. Daniel Tupou 3. Billy Smith 4. Robert Toia 5. Mark Nawaqanitawase 6. Daly Cherry-Evans 7. Sam Walker 8. Naufahu Whyte 9. Benaiah Ioelu 10. Lindsay Collins 11. Angus Crichton 12. Nat Butcher 13. Blake Steep 14. Connor Watson 15. Siua Wong 16. Egan Butcher 17. Spencer Leniu 18. Cody Ramsey 19. Fetalaiga Pauga 20. Salesi Foketi 21. Tommy Talau 22. Toby Rodwell
Daly Cherry-Evans and Sam Walker have been named in the No.6 and No.7 jerseys, and Benaiah Ioelu will play rake while Reece Robson is injured. Connor Watson is also sitting on the bench and could take some minutes at nine, while Cody Ramsey (who battled back from gruelling injuries while at the Dragons) has been handed the 18th man jumper.
Broncos vs. Panthers
Friday, March 6 at 8PM
Suncorp Stadium
Broncos: 1. Reece Walsh 2. Josiah Karapani 3. Kotoni Staggs 4. Gehamat Shibasaki 5. Deine Mariner 6. Ezra Mam 7. Adam Reynolds 8. Corey Jensen 9. Cory Paix 10. Payne Haas 11. Jack Gosiewski 12. Jordan Riki 13. Patrick Carrigan 14. Ben Hunt 15. Xavier Willison 16. Ben Talty 17. Aublix Tawha 18. Grant Anderson 19. Jesse Arthars 20. Blake Mozer 21. Jaiyden Hunt 22. Thomas Duffy
Tyson Smoothy and Kobe Hetherington have departed, while Brendan Piakura is injured, meaning three premiership players from 2025 won’t be appearing in 2026’s first team. Outside that, Michael Maguire has a similar side, including Bent Hunt in the no.14 jersey and Cory Paix starting at hooker (like he did in the World Club Challenge loss). Aublix Tawha, who just joined from cross-city rivals the Redcliffe Dolphins, has been named on the bench.
Panthers: 1. Dylan Edwards 2. Paul Alamoti 3. Izack Tago 4. Casey McLean 5. Brian To’o 6. Blaize Talagi 7. Nathan Cleary 8. Moses Leota 9. Mitch Kenny 10. Lindsay Smith 11. Scott Sorensen 12. Luke Garner 13. Isaah Yeo 14. Jack Cogger 15. Luron Patea 16. Isaiah Papali’i 17. Kalani Going 18. Thomas Jenkins 19. Freddy Lussick 20. Billy Phillips 21. Jack Cole 22. Sione Fonua
Most of the Panthers’ changes come on the bench, where Jack Cogger has been named as utility, and Kalani Going and Freddy Lussick (both from the Warriors in the offseason) are also included there. Tom Jenkins will fill a similar role to Cogger, covering on the extended six-man bench. Luke Garner has been named to replace Liam Martin, who will be back in round two.
