Danny Amendola retires at at the age of 36

According to Grant Gordon of nfl.com, National Football League wide receiver Danny Amendola of The Woodlands, Texas has retired at the age of 36. He spent 13 seasons in the NFL from 2009 to 2021 with the St. Louis Rams, New England Patriots, Miami Dolphins, Detroit Lions, and Houston Texans.
In 2021, Amendola played in only eight games. He had 24 catches for 248 yards and three touchdowns. Amendola’s best game of the season happened to be his last game. He had seven catches for 113 yards and two touchdowns in a 28-25 Texans loss to the Tennessee Titans on January 9.
In his career, Amendola had 617 catches for 6212 yards and 24 touchdowns. He also had 17 rushes for 99 yards.
Amendola’s finest season came with the Rams in 2010. He had 85 catches for 689 yards and three touchdowns.

Amendola was also known in the early stages of his career as an excellent kick returner. He had 66 kickoff returns for a NFL high 1618 kickoff return yards in his rookie season of 2009 while with the Rams. Then a year later, Amendola led the NFL with 2364 all purpose yards with St. Louis. While with the Patriots in 2015, he led the NFL with 12 yards per punt return.
In the postseason, Amendola won two Super Bowls with the Patriots. He was on the Patriots squad that won the 2015 and 2017 Super Bowls. In 2015, the Patriots beat the Seattle Seahawks 28-24. In Super Bowl XLIX, Amendola had five catches for 48 yards and one touchdown. In 2017 in Super Bowl LI, the Patriots beat the Atlanta Falcons 34-28, in one of the most exciting football games of all-time. Amendola had eight catches for 78 yards and one touchdown.
