NFL Fantasy Preview: New York Jets
September 1, 2021
In a 32-part series leading up to the start of the 2021 National Football League season, we will take a look at each NFL franchise from a fantasy perspective. The 24th team we will review is the New York Jets.
In most of my fantasy reports for every particular National Football League team to date, the reports have been elaborate and extensive. This will not be the case for the New York Jets, which will be short and sweet. Why? Because it is going to take a significant amount of convincing to even consider taking a Jets player this season.
At quarterback, Zach Wilson will be the Jets starter this year. While there is a lot of hype regarding number one pick Trevor Lawrence in Jacksonville, there is minimal excitement regarding Wilson, who is joining the Jets from BYU. Among quarterbacks, Wilson is ranked 31st among the 32. The only quarterback Wilson is ahead of is Tyrod Taylor of Houston, and the only reason why Wilson is ahead of Taylor is because of the Texans complete unpredictability as to who will be the starter by Canadian Thanksgiving.

At wide receiver, Jets management have put together a respectable receiving group, which contains Corey Davis, Jamison Crowder, and Keelan Cole. Davis is the 37th-ranked receiver. Last year Davis had 65 catches for 984 yards and five touchdowns with the Tennessee Titans, before signing a three-year deal worth $37.5 million on March 18. Crowder, who is 43rd, had 59 catches for 699 yards and six touchdowns with the Jets in 2020, while Cole, who is 54th, had 55 catches for 642 yards and five touchdowns with the Jacksonville Jaguars last year.
Finally, at running back, the Jets duo of Michael Carter and Tevin Coleman are not worth selecting either. Carter was a fourth-round pick by the Jets last season out of the University of North Carolina, while Coleman missed a significant amount of time last year with a sprained knee.
