The Minnesota Timberwolves are red hot at the moment, as they are winners of eight of their last 10 games. On Monday night we saw just how special, their star player, Karl-Anthony Towns of Edison, New Jersey can be.

Towns’s 60 points is the most points ever scored by a Timberwolves player in a single game. Towns actually had the previous record as he scored 56 points in a 126-114 Minnesota win over the Atlanta Hawks on March 28, 2018.

There have been only four other players in Timberwolves franchise history to score 50 points in a game. On March 23, 2012, Kevin Love of Santa Monica, California had 51 points in a 149-140 Minnesota loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder. On April 11, 2014, Corey Brewer of Portland, Tennessee had 51 points in a 112-110 Minnesota win over the Houston Rockets. On January 13, 2015, Mo Williams of Jackson, Mississippi had 52 points in a 110-101 Minnesota win over the Indiana Pacers. On October 31, 2018, Derrick Rose had 50 points in a 128-125 win over the Utah Jazz.
On the season, Towns is now averaging 24.8 points per game. Minnesota is now at 40 wins and 30 losses, and in seventh place in the Western Conference. The last player to score 60 points in a game was Bradley Beal of the Washington Wizards, who achieved the mark in a 141-136 Wizards overtime loss to the Philadelphia 76ers on January 6, 2021.
