Chicago Bulls receive effective bench production from Coby White
February 25, 2020
The Chicago Bulls are receiving strong production off the bench from shooting guard Coby White of Goldsboro, North Carolina. On Sunday, White became the first rookie in National Basketball Association history to score 30 points or more in two consecutive games when coming off the bench according to the Elias Sports Bureau. It should be noted that the statistics of starters versus bench players have only been kept tracked of since 1970-71.
In both games, White scored 33 points. He reached that mark the first time in a 112-104 Bulls loss to the Phoenix Suns on Saturday from the United Center in Chicago, Illinois, and then duplicated the 33 point performance in a 126-117 win Bulls win over the Washington Wizards on February 23.
In Chicago’s loss to the Suns, White led all players in scoring while playing 33 minutes and 51 seconds. White added three rebounds, two assists and one steal. He was 11 of 22 in field goal attempts, seven of 13 from three-point range and four for four from free throws.
In Chicago’s win over Washington, White once again led the Bulls in scoring. This time he played 33 minutes and 47 seconds. White added six rebounds, two steals, two assists and one blocked shot. He was 11 of 18 in field goal attempts, five for nine from three point attempts and six for seven in free throws.
On the season, White is now averaging 11.9 points per game, 3.5 rebounds per game and 2.4 assists per game. These averages are only coming in 24.7 minutes per game.
Despite White’s offensive skills, Chicago remains five games back of the Orlando Magic for a playoff spot in the Eastern Conference. They have only won two games out of their last 10 and have a record of 20 wins and 38 losses.
