According to ESPN’s Shams Charania, Wembanyama has agreed to a new long-term extension with Nike that includes his own signature shoe line.
Financial details of the agreement have not been disclosed, but the deal replaces Wembanyama’s previous Nike contract, which was due to expire later this year. Nike also unveiled a new personal logo featuring his “V” and “W” initials in an alien-inspired design, reflecting the nickname that has followed him since arriving in the NBA.
In a statement provided to The Athletic, Nike said it was proud to continue supporting Wembanyama’s journey, describing him as “one of the most unique and influential athletes in the world” and “a generational talent who continues to inspire the game’s next generation.”
Reward for a Remarkable Offseason
The endorsement is the latest milestone in an extraordinary offseason for the Spurs franchise player.
Earlier this month, Wembanyama signed a five-year maximum rookie contract extension worth US$252 million to remain in San Antonio. The French superstar is also coming off another dominant campaign, winning the NBA Defensive Player of the Year award and helping lead the Spurs to the NBA Finals for the first time in his career.
