There is a possibility that former Houston Astros Manager A.J. Hinch of Waverly, Iowa and former Astros General Manager Jeff Luhnow of Mexico City, Mexico might be saved a little by coronavirus. According to the National Post on Thursday, Hinch and Luhnow will not be suspended by Major League Baseball in 2021 if there is no Major League Baseball season in 2020.

Luhnow and Hinch were both suspended in January in the Astros sign stealing scandal which completely rocked the professional sports scene and questioned baseball’s overall validity. Hinch was harshly criticized by commissioner Rob Manfred for not doing enough to stop the scheme, while Luhnow was required to undergo management and leadership training during his suspension.

The fact that Luhnow and Hinch may now not see any loss of games reduces the level of their punishment significantly. We do not know at this time if MLB will have a season in 2020. It is too early to tell as the horrific pandemic of coronavirus is hitting the nation harder than a Randy Johnson fastball. In the United States alone there are 235, 747 deaths and 5620 total deaths. This could be the worst global pandemic to ever hit planet Earth in the history of civilization.

There are more important things in this world than to analyze Hinch’s and Luhnow’s punishments. However, any team that considers hiring Hinch and Luhnow in any capacity will be second guessed and should be criticized by the baseball media. More penalties for Hinch and Luhnow need to be enforced, especially if we do not have a season.
