Matt Fitzpatrick of Sheffield, England is the winner of the 2026 Valspar Championship from the Copperhead Course in Palm Harbour, Florida. Fitzpatrick posted a winning score of -11.
Fitzpatrick posted a first round score of three-under-par 68, a second round scored of two-under-par 69, a third round score of three-under-par 68, and a fourth round score of three-under-par 68. Fitzpatrick did not have a bogey in the final two rounds of the tournament
There were five other golfers in contention. David Lipsky of Los Angeles, California was alone in second place at -10. Jordan Smith of Bath, England was alone in third place at -9. The betting favourite Xander Schauffele of San Diego, California, Marco Penge of Crawley, England, and Sung-jae Im of Cheongju, South Korea were tied for fourth place at -8.
Fitzpatrick and Schauffele are both major champions. Fitzpatrick won the 2022 United States Open. Schauffele won the 2024 PGA Championship and 2024 British Open.Â
This was Fitzpatrick’s third career PGA tournament title. He also won the the 2023 RBC Heritage.
One of the significant storylines on Sunday was the slow play of Fitzpatrick’s playing partner, Adrien Dumont de Chassart of Belgium. Dumont de Chassart finished in 26th place at -3. Fitzpatrick was clearly frustrated about his slow pace and was out of rhythm.
Once again we saw a final round collapse by the leader. This time it was Im, who had a two stroke lead heading into the fourth round at -11. However, in the final round, Im shot a score of three-over-par 74 as he had five bogeys in the first 10 holes.
