According to Scott Polacek of Bleacher Report on Thursday, the Detroit Lions have decided to bring back wide receiver Marvin Jones Jr. of Los Angeles, California. The terms of the contract are for one year and $3 million. The 33-year-old product from the University of California, initially played for the Lions from 2016 to 2020, before playing the last two seasons with the Jacksonville Jaguars. Jones Jr. also played three NFL seasons (2012, 2013, and 2015) with the Cincinnati Bengals. He missed the entire 2014 National Football League season with an ankle injury.
In 2022, Jones Jr. had 46 catches for 529 yards and three touchdowns. He also had four catches for 50 yards and one touchdown in two playoff games. During the regular season on October 9, Jones Jr. had a season-high 104 yards receiving in a 13-6 Jaguars loss to the Houston Texans. It was one of only three wins the Texans had all season. They also beat the Tennessee Titans 19-14 on December 24 and the Indianapolis Colts 32-31 on January 8.
