October 11, 2019
@Deanwatling has taken a look at all of the 2yo trials and has given us his analysis and selections to help you find the winner in a very open race.
1. Rock Of Kryptonite
- Jockey: Michael Dee
- Trainer: M Price & M Kent Jnr
- Barrier: 2
- Market Price: $4.50
- Assessed Price: $3.90
280k Fastnet Rock colt. Looked to do it well in first jump out 700m – 43.81. 2nd jump 800 – 50.12 when eased down 100m out, solid again, raced to the front and looked to do it under own steam. Looked to have the edge over key rivals; Euphoric Summer, The Big Easy. Expect solid performance.
Expected Position: Midfield/Pace
2. Tanker
- Jockey: Ben Allen
- Trainer: C Maher & D Eustace
- Barrier: 7
- Market Price: $6.50
- Assessed Price: $11.6
Very interesting runner. A 170k Pride Of Dubai colt who was ousted along a fair way out and lookedto struggle in first jump out (800 – 51:03). Back to good ground in a offical trial, showed a very nice turn of foot after settling last. They ran home in 47.06 where he was 2.5L off the winner. Blinkers go on first time and could be a smokey.
Expected Position: Backmarker
3. The Big Easy
- Jockey: Jamie Kah
- Trainer: C Maher & D Eustace
- Barrier: 5
- Market Price: $5
- Assessed Price: $7.7
A Beautiful 150k chestnut colt, first jump out was ran quicker than Tanker’s heat (800m – 50.12). Sat off speed in both trials and found the line nicely. 2nd trial against Rock Of Kryptonite/ Euphoric Summer and looked to be not to far off them. Settled well into stride and then when asked, responded swiftly. Right in this.
Expected Position: Backmarker/Midfield
4. Urus
- Jockey: Brett Prebble
- Trainer: Andrew Noblet
- Barrier: 4
- Market Price: $26
- Assessed Price: $98.8
3 Jumpouts leading into this first up test. Blinkers on in trial and they stay on race day. Slow time in first jump out when pushed along, 2nd jump out sat behind the speed and safety held by Rock Of Kryptonite/ Euphoric Summer/ The Big Easy. 3rd jump out wore blinkers and looked to struggle.
Expected Position: Backmarker
5. Bella Nipoting
- Jockey: Stephan Baster
- Trainer: D & B Hayes & T Dabernig
- Barrier: 1
- Market Price: $12
- Assessed Price: $24
First of the filly’s in the market. She was an 80k purchase from the D & B Hayes $ T Dabernig stable. Slowest trial of the morning 800m – 49.90 where was riden out a touch behind the leaders. Untested in later stages when found the back of horses. Prefer others.
Expected Position: Midfield.
6. Euphoric Summer
- Jockey: Damien Oliver
- Trainer: M Price & M Kent Jnr
- Barrier: 6
- Market Price: $5
- Assessed Price: $4.4
260k Filly out of a G1 winning mare, looked good in her first jump out where they ran 800m – 50.12 when eased down, was an eye-catching run when finding the front nicely and looked to relax well. Beat home The Big Easy. Over the 700m in latest jump out running 43.81 where she was neck and neck with market favourite Rock Of Kryptonite. Gets 2kg off him on race day where winkers go on first time. Top Hope.
Expected Position: Pace
7. Latin Affair
- Jockey: Jordan Childs
- Trainer: N A Blackiston
- Barrier: 3
- Market Price: $21
- Assessed Price: $77.4
60k purchase, hard ridden over the 850m – 51.52. Pushed along with big gap back to 3rd on the synthetic. Looks a task on debut.
Expected Position: Midfield
8. Pounce
- Jockey: Dwayne Dunn
- Trainer: M, W & J Hawkes
- Barrier: 8
- Market Price: $5.5
- Assessed Price: $9.7
400k filly who brings a different trial/jumpout form line. Easily beaten by Super One Susie in first trial who then went on to run 7th in the Grimcrack. 2nd trial was a lot better and in solid time. Controlled the lead and powered away 895m – 55.78. Love this stable first up always. Bold showing.
Expected Position: Midfield/Pace
9. Queen Of Rocks
- Jockey: Luke Nolen
- Trainer: D & B Hayes & T Dabernig
- Barrier: 9
- Market Price: $6.50
- Assessed Price: $7.7
Most expensive horse in the field. Selling for 410k. Fasten Rock colt out of a VRC Derby runner up. 2 jump-outs leading in. First was over the 800m – 49.06 when this filly looked to do it very nicely. 2nd trial wasn’t asked for much and looked to relax and cruise along evenly. Both soft trials so more to come and could turn up big on race day.
Expected Position: Midfield
