LeBron James becomes fifth player to register 30000 points and 10000 rebounds

LeBron James of the Los Angeles Lakers made NBA history on Wednesday by becoming the fifth player ever to register 30 000 points and 10 000 rebounds in his career according to ESPN. James recorded history with his 10th rebound in the game with four minutes and 11 seconds left in the fourth quarter, in a 111-104 Lakers loss to the Indiana Pacers. The rebound came after Pacers small forward Torrey Craig missed a three-point attempt from 26 feet. James finished the game with a double double, as he had 30 points and 12 rebounds.

James now has 36 319 career points and 10 002 career rebounds. The other four players to achieve that feat are Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (38 387 points and 17 440 rebounds), Karl Malone (36 928 points and 14 968 rebounds), Dirk Nowitzki (31 560 points and 11 489 rebounds) and Wilt Chamberlain (31 419 points and 23 924 rebounds).

But just because James is performing at a high level at the moment, it is not equating into Lakers wins. Los Angeles has only won five of their last 10 games, and at 22 wins and 23 losses, are one game below .500, in eighth place in the Western Conference. Now there are rumours swirling that Lakers head coach Frank Vogel is on the hot seat.

Speaking of coaching, it has been a terrific stretch of coaching the last two games by Pacers head coach Rick Carlisle. Despite numerous injuries, the Pacers found a way to beat the Lakers by six, and then stunned the Golden State Warriors 121-117 in overtime on Thursday, despite being a 16.5 point underdog. In the win over the Lakers, Domantas Sabonis had a triple double (20 points, 12 rebounds and 10 assists), while Caris LeVert led the team with 30 points. In the Pacers’ win over the Warriors, without Sabonis and LeVert, Indiana was led by Chris Duarte, who had 27 points.
