Novak Djokovic tests positive for coronavirus

The best tennis player in the world now has coronavirus. According to Benjamin VanHoose of People Magazine, Novak Djokovic of Belgrade, Serbia, tested positive following a pair of exhibition series in his home nation of Serbia, and then Croatia. One could argue that Djokovic is the most recognizable sports athlete in the world that has tested positive for coronavirus so far. His overall net worth is $220 million.
Djokovic is one of numerous notable people who were part of the controversial Adria Tour series that tested positive for coronavirus. Others include tennis players Grigor Dimitrov of Bulgaria, Borna Coric of Croatia, Viktor Troicki of Serbia, Djokovic’s wife Jelena, Troicki’s pregnant wife Aleksandra, Djokovic’s fitness coach Marko Paniki, and Dimitrov’s coach Christian Groh.
As reported on Monday, the tennis events in Serbia and Crotaia have been harshly criticized. There were spectators allowed, ball boys and ball girls were present and not wearing masks, and the ball boys and ball girls had the opportunity to have their pictures taken with the competitors on the court.
With what went on in the tennis world the last couple of weeks, it will be interesting to see if the golf world will continue to allow spectators in various events in the state of Ohio, starting next month. In tennis, it has been reported that the U.S. Open will not have fans, but the French Open will have spectators at Roland Garros in late September.
There are currently 13.092 cases of coronavirus in Serbia and 263 deaths. In Croatia, there are 2,366 cases and 107 deaths.
