Montefilia

• Distance: 1400m
• Class:  2 Year Old Open Handicap 

Impressive first up run by this daughter of Kermadec going straight to the 1400m, was taken back to the rear of the field in a genuine run race and was asked to take off from the 800m making up many lengths on a track that didn’t suit that racing pattern, the filly recorded the clear best last 600m of the race.

When To Bet

Wants 1600m in a genuine run race or could stay at 1400m and if drawn nicely can settle closer to the speed.

Emeralds

• Distance: 1100m
• Class: BM74 Handicap 

Very impressive first up run by this John Sargent trained filly recording the fastest 600m, 400m & 200m of the entire meeting, she went back from the draw and settled nicely off a moderate tempo before making a long sustained sprint from the 600m hitting the line powerfully out wide which was hard to do at the meeting.

When To Bet

Wants 1200m+ next start, if she can draw a nice barrier and able to stay closer the speed she will be winning wherever she goes next.

Prairie Fire 

• Race: 6
• Distance: 1400m
• Class: BM88 Handicap 

Brilliant run by the Danny Williams trained gelding, wasn’t suited by going back to 1000m after hitting the line strongly over 1200m the start prior, he got back off a solid tempo before finishing powerfully in the clear best last 600m, 400m & 200m of the race to just miss.

When To Bet

Suited back to 1200-1400m next start in similar grade and if able to find an even track will be very hard to beat.
