Coronavirus currently hitting the NFL hard

The National Football League remarkably is continuing with their season even though coronavirus is at the epicenter, and is at the back of everyone’s mind. In what was supposed to be the week where everyone was talking about the trade deadline, the headlines have shifted toward this deadly global disease.

The news began on Monday, when it was reported by Billy Heyen of The Sporting News that Baltimore Ravens Marlon Humphrey and Green Bay Packers running back AJ Dillon each played last weekend with coronavirus. The players had been tested for the disease on Sunday, played the game, and then found out on Monday, that they were positive.

Now in addition to Humphrey, six more Ravens have tested positive for coronavirus. What makes this even more troubling is that the Ravens are still expected to play the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday as scheduled from Lucas Oil Stadium in Indiana.

Tonight, the San Francisco 49ers are still to host the Green Bay Packers in primetime, even though wide receiver Kendrick Bourne tested positive for coronavirus, and three other 49ers players are unable to play because they were in close contact with Bourne. The 49ers did not have a full practice on Wednesday. Neither will the Houston Texans on Thursday because one of their players has coronavirus.

Coronavirus has also hit quarterbacks of the present and past too. On Wednesday, it was reported that Matt Stafford of the Detroit Lions has the disease. Earlier in the week, former Denver Broncos quarterback legend John Elway announced he has COVID too. Elway is still in the Broncos organization as their team president. The Lions are to play the Minnesota Vikings this weekend, and the Broncos are to play the Atlanta Falcons.
