49ers defensive end Jordan Willis suspended six games for drug use
June 23, 2021

According to CBS Sports on Thursday, San Francisco 49ers defensive end Jordan Willis of San Diego, California has been suspended six games by the National Football League for violating the NFL’s policy of performance-enhancing substances.
Willis shared his time last season with the 49ers and New York Jets. In nine games, he had 13 combined tackles (seven solo tackles and six assisted tackles), two tackles for a loss, two and a half sacks, five quarterback hits, and one fumble recovery.
Willis also spent time on the coronavirus list in 2020, and ended the season on the injury reserve list. California has been the hardest hit state when it has come to coronavirus. There have been 3,810,289 total cases of coronavirus in California, and 63,361 deaths. California also has 1,676, 121 active cases, and 2,070, 807 people have recovered.

In addition to playing with the 49ers and Jets, Willis also played two seasons to begin his NFL career with the Cincinnati Bengals. He was originally the Bengals’ third-round draft pick, 73rd overall, in the 2017 NFL Draft out of Kansas State University.
In four NFL seasons, Willis has had 65 combined tackles (43 solo tackles and 22 assisted tackles), 14 quarterback hits, 10 tackles for a loss, five and a half sacks, one pass deflection, one forced fumble, and two fumble recoveries. Due to the fact the 49ers have a bye in week six, Willis will not be eligible to join the 49ers until week eight when they play in Chicago on Halloween.
The 49ers’ most significant offseason acquisition on defense was signing outside linebacker and defensive end Samson Ebukam from the Los Angeles Rams to a two-year contract worth $12 million on March 19. Ebukam had spent four seasons with the Rams, and had an interception and quarterback rush in the memorable 54-51 Rams win over the Kansas City Chiefs in 2018.
