Kevin Durant out four to six weeks with sprained MCL

According to Nick Friedell of ESPN on Monday, the Brooklyn Nets are expected to be without their power forward, Kevin Durant of Washington, District of Colombia, for four to six weeks after spraining his medial collateral ligament in his left knee in the Nets’ 120-105 win over the New Orleans Pelicans on Saturday.

The injury took place in the second quarter according to Sky Sports. Nets guard Bruce Brown backed into Durant, and bumped his knee in the process. The fact that Durant is only out four to six weeks is a victory for the Nets organization because the injury could have been much worse, and for the time being, Durant will avoid surgery.

The absence of Durant has already been felt. That is because the Nets were beaten 114-107 by the Cleveland Cavaliers on Monday.

It will now be interesting to see with Durant’s injury, if the heat will be on Kyrie Irving to finally get vaccinated for coronavirus. Irving has not played a home game for the Nets all year because he refuses to get jabbed. Under New York state rules, people have to show proof of being vaccinated for coronavirus with one shot before being allowed into a major sports facility, like Madison Square Garden. We all know with the recent case of Novak Djokovic in Australia, that athletes are not above the law.

Anyway you look at it, the loss of Durant for the Nets is huge, for any length of time. Currently Durant leads the entire NBA with 29.3 points per game. Brooklyn is presently third in the East with a record of 27 wins and 16 losses.
