KAH’S EMOTION CHARGED DAY
March 12, 2024

JAMIE Kah carries an armour of professionalism on race day as she goes about her business without showing emotion.
Kah prides herself on this, but she was happy to let her guard down at Flemington on Saturday in the lead-up to the Newmarket Handicap.

Even before she won the race on Cylinder she was engulfed in a whirl of emotions as she thought back to the corresponding day last year.
And why wouldn’t she be as she looked back to a unique and tragic occurrence of events.

Kah crashed to the turf in the 2023 VRC Sires Produce Stakes and almost lost her life such was the severity of her head injury.
In the Newmarket Handicap she was replaced by Dean Holland on In Secret and he went on to win.
In one of racing’s saddest moments, Holland would lose his life in a race fall weeks later as a result of injuries suffered in a race fall.
Kah also carried the Royal Blue colours which In Secret wore to win when she won Cylinder on Saturday.
It continued a remarkable run of Group 1 victories for Kah as she has claimed the Blue Diamond Stakes on Hayasugi, the
Australian Guineas on Southport Tycoon and the Newmarket Handicap on consecutive Saturday’s with each horse starting at double figure odds.
The champion jockey is questionably back to the peak of her great riding powers.
