Kah ban extended
September 17, 2021

Melbourne Premiership winning jockey Jamie Kah has had her ban extended for an extra two months following a false evidence charge, ruling her out of the saddle until late January.
Kah’s year is all but over after providing false and/or misleading evidence to stewards over who attended the illegal gathering at a Mornington Airbnb last month.
VRT chairman Judge John Bowman said: ‘’The bottom line is we are of the opinion that a period of two months suspension should be imposed for this charge under (ARR) 232 (i) and be cumulative in its entirety from the period of three months suspension imposed by the stewards in relation to AR 232 (b), thus the total period of suspension for both will be five months.’’

Kah’s last 12 months have been an almighty success taking out the five Group 1’s, the 2020/2021 Melbourne Metro Jockey Premiership and just last week picked up her first Scobie Breasley Medal.
But the superstar jockey will have to watch from afar for the rest of the year now and spoke about the emotional challenge last week when accepting the Scobie Breasley Medal.
“It’s been a rollercoaster of emotions over the last few months. I had such a great season and was on such a high and obviously now I’ve been suspended for the spring carnival and it had the possibility to be my biggest one yet,” Kah said.
“It was a tough few weeks but I’m getting better. We’ll get through it, I’ll learn from it and hopefully I can come back better than ever and more determined.”
Kah’s extra two months makes a total of five months on the sidelines whilst Mark Zahra had an extra month added to his initial three month ban. Celine Gaudray copped an extra two weeks on top of her original three month ban.
Ethan Brown and Ben Melham are yet to find out whether their bans would be extended too.
