Jets trade Zach Wilson to Broncos
April 24, 2024

According to Myles Simmons of NBC Sports on Monday, the New York Jets have traded quarterback Zach Wilson of Draper, Utah to the Denver Broncos with a seventh round pick in the 2024 National Football League draft for a sixth round pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. The Broncos receive the 256th overall pick, while the Jets will receive the 203rd overall pick.
The Broncos are the second NFL franchise Wilson has played for. He has previously played the last three seasons with the Jets.
In 2023, Wilson completed 221 passes in 368 attempts for 2271 passing yards, eight touchdowns, and seven interceptions. He also had 36 rushes for 211 rushing yards.
The Broncos were in need of a quarterback when Russell Wilson of Cincinnati, Ohio signed a one-year deal worth $1.21 million with the Pittsburgh Steelers on March 15. Wilson’s time in Denver was rocky to say the least. It included completely ineffective play in 2022, and a controversial benching in 2023. It should be noted that the Broncos still have a quarterback with the last name of Wilson, but now a leader with a different first name.
The Jets meanwhile are moving on from Zach Wilson after selecting him second overall in the 2021 National Football League Draft. The only player taken over Wilson in the draft was Trevor Lawrence of Knoxville, Tennessee by the Jacksonville Jaguars. However, it should be noted that the Jets will be looking for a long-term quarterback rather soon. That is because 40-year-old Aaron Rodgers of Chico, California is the short term answer, and not the long term one.
