According to Rich Cimini and Adam Schefter of ESPN on Thursday, there was a trade made between the Tennessee Titans and New York Jets. The Jets have traded Pro Bowl linebacker Jermaine Johnson II of Eden Prairie, Minnesota to the Titans for nose tackle T’Vondre Sweat of Huntsville, Texas.
Both the Jets and Titans were among the worst teams in the National Football League in 2025. They were actually tied with the Arizona Cardinals and Las Vegas Raiders for the worst record in the NFL at three wins and 14 losses. While the Titans have named former Jets head coach Robert Saleh of Dearborn, Michigan as their new head coach in the offseason, the Jets appear to be sticking with head coach Aaron Glenn of Humble, Texas in 2026.
Saleh actually reunites with Johnson as they were together in New York for three straight years from 2022 to 2024. This past season in 2025, Johnson had 43 tackles (22 solo tackles and 21 assisted tackles), six quarterback hits, five tackles for a loss, three sacks and two pass deflections.
Johnson was selected to the Pro Bowl with the Jets in 2023. That year he had 55 combined tackles (36 solo tackles and 19 assisted tackles), 16 quarterback hits, 11 tackles for a loss, one pick six for 37 yards, seven pass deflections, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery. The forced fumble came in a 31-21 Jets win over the Denver Broncos on October 8.
Sweat has been with the Titans the last two years. In 2025, he had 34 combined tackles (16 solo tackles and 18 assisted tackles), four tackles for a loss, three quarterback hits, two sacks and one pass deflection.
