The Chicago Bears have landed All-Pro defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons from the Tennessee Titans in a blockbuster trade that costs them two first-round picks.
Tennessee announced the deal on Thursday (US time), NFL.com reported, after The Ringer’s Tom Pelissero first broke the news.
The Titans receive Chicago’s 2027 and 2028 first-round picks plus a 2027 fourth-round pick, while the Bears also get a 2028 fifth-round pick, according to the full terms reported by ESPN’s Adam Schefter and listed by Pro Football Rumors.
A rare price for a defensive tackle
Schefter noted it is the first time since 1967 that an interior defensive lineman has been traded for multiple first-round picks, Pro Football Rumors reported.
Simmons, 29, was a first-team All-Pro in 2025 and set a career high with 11 sacks that season. He has four sacks so far in 2026.
NFL.com reported that, entering Week 8, Simmons had generated 28 pressures this season, the most among defensive tackles according to Next Gen Stats.

Bears go all in
Chicago are 5-2 and face the reigning champion Seattle Seahawks on Monday night (US time), while Tennessee have started the season 1-6.
Simmons signed a long-term extension with the Titans in June that briefly made him the league’s highest-paid defensive tackle. Pro Football Rumors reported the deal carries an average annual value of US$35.28 million and runs through 2030.
The move reunites Simmons with Bears edge rusher Montez Sweat, his former college team-mate at Mississippi State.
What the Titans said
“There are few people like Jeff Simmons. We are forever grateful for all he has given this team and this city,” Titans owner Amy Adams Strunk said in a statement, as reported by NFL.com.
“His formidable presence on the field was surpassed only by what he did off it. He gave Nashville more than football.”
