We all know what a dynamic quarterback Trevor Lawrence of Knoxville, Tennessee has the capability of being. This past weekend he was simply sensational in a 40-34 overtime win over the Dallas Cowboys.
On Thursday, we saw a different way of how the Jaguars can win a National Football League game–through very impressive defense. The Jaguars limited the Jets to only 66 rushing yards in a 19-3 road win in New York. The most notable Jaguars defender was linebacker Devin Lloyd of Kansas City, Missouri, who had one interception for 19 yards, one pass deflection, and nine combined tackles (six solo tackles and three assisted tackles). Lloyd was one of two Jaguars defenders to have nine combined tackles. The other was free safety Rayshawn Jenkins of St. Petersburg, Florida, who had five solo tackles and four assisted tackles.

This was a statement win for Jacksonville in many ways. The Jaguars showed all football fans that they have what it takes to possibly win the AFC South–this season. Currently, they are only half a game back of the struggling Tennessee Titans.
There is no doubt that the Jaguars and Titans are moving in opposite directions at the moment. The Jaguars are winners of three straight games and the Titans are losers of four straight games. The Titans and Jaguars each have games left on the schedule with the Houston Texans. The Titans also play the Dallas Cowboys in an intriguing final Thursday night tilt on the 2022 NFL regular season schedule. Then in week 18 on January 8, the Titans and Jaguars meet to close out the season. This could be a game for first place in the AFC South.
