There was a significant trade in the National Basketball Association on Sunday according to the Associated Press. The Charlotte Hornets have traded power forward Miles Bridges of Flint, Michigan to the Phoenix Suns for shooting guard Grayson Allen of Jacksonville, Florida. In addition to Bridges, the Suns are receiving a second round pick in the 2027 NBA Draft and a first round pick in the 2029 NBA Draft. In addition to Allen, the Hornets are receiving a first round pick in the 2033 NBA Draft, and small forward Royce O’Neale of Killeen, Texas.
Bridges is joining his second NBA franchise. He spent seven seasons with the Hornets since the 2018-19 season. Bridges was suspended for the 2022-23 season for a domestic violence incident.
In 2025-26, Bridges averaged 17.1 points per game, 5.8 rebounds per game, and 3.2 assists per game. He had a field goal percentage of .460, three point percentage of .333, and a free throw percentage of .822.
Allen is joining his fifth NBA franchise. He was with the Utah Jazz for one season (2018-19), the Memphis Grizzlies for two seasons (2019-21), the Milwaukee Bucks for two seasons (2021-23), and the Suns for the last three seasons (2023-26). In his first season with the Suns in 2023-24, Allen led the NBA in three-point shooting percentage (.461).
In 2025-26, Allen averaged 16.5 points per game, 3.8 assists per game, three rebounds per game, and 1.4 steals per game. He had a field goal percentage of .403, three point percentage of .519, and free throw percentage of .857.
This was the second significant trade the Hornets have made in the last week. On Thursday, they traded LaMelo Ball to the Minnesota Timberwolves.
