There was a blockbuster trade made on Thursday between the Charlotte Hornets and Minnesota Timberwolves. According to Bryan Mcwillliam of The Score, the Hornets have traded All-Star point guard LaMelo Ball of Anaheim, California and shooting guard Josh Green of Sydney, Australia to the Timberwolves for center Naz Reid of Asbury Park, New Jersey, a first round pick in the 2033 NBA Draft, and second round picks in 2029, 2032, and 2033.
As part of the deal, there will also be three first round pick swaps. They will take place in 2028, 2029, and 2030.
Ball and Reid have won NBA Awards in the past. Ball won the 2020-21 NBA Rookie of the Year, and Reid won the 2023-24 NBA Sixth Man of the Year Award. Ball was an NBA All-Star during the 2021-22 season.
Ball is joining his second NBA franchise after six seasons in Charlotte. In 2025-26, he averaged 20.1 points per game, 7.1 assists per game, 4.8 rebounds per game, and 1.2 steals per game. Ball had a field goal percentage of .407, three point percentage of .368, and free throw percentage of .899.
Reid is joining his second NBA franchise after seven seasons in Minnesota. In 2025-26, he averaged 13.6 points per game, 6.2 rebounds per game, 2.2 assists per game, one steal per game and one block per game. Reid had a field goal percentage of .456, three point percentage of .362 and a free throw percentage of .732.
Green is joining his third NBA team. He was with the Dallas Mavericks for four seasons and the Hornets for two seasons.
