You know the British Open is just around the corner when we are talking about the John Deere Classic. For many years, one of the last chances to qualify for the British Open, was if you won the John Deere Classic in Silvis, Illinois, and this year is no different. Many of the world’s best will be in the midwest with the goal of competing in the final major of the 2025 golf season. Here are the three golfers we like the most this week.Â
 Ben Griffin
The favourite this week is the world number 17 from Chapel Hill, North Carolina at +1600. Griffin has already won this season twice. He was victorious at the only team event on the PGA Tour. Griffin and Andrew Novak of Raleigh, North Carolina won the Zurich Classic of New Orleans in April. Then in May, Griffin won his very first individual event on the PGA Tour as he got in the winner’s circle at the Charles Schwab Challenge in Fort Worth, Texas. Griffin has also finished twice in the top 10 in Majors (eighth at the PGA Championship and 10th at the US Open).
Denny McCarthy
One of my picks in my one-and-done pool this week, the native of Takoma Park, Maryland has made 20 straight cuts on tour. The last time McCarthy (+2500) missed a cut was the 2024 British Open. McCarthy has had three top 10 performances in that time (fifth at the Genesis, eighth at the PGA Championship and ninth at the FedEx St. Jude Championship).
Luke Clanton
We talked about Clanton (+3500) last week in choosing the PGA Tour over the LIV. A year ago, Clanton was great at the John Deere as an amateur. He finished in second place at -24.
