England captain George Williams will join the Dolphins in 2027 on a two-year deal, the club confirmed on Tuesday night, ending months of waiting for official word on his NRL return.
The Dolphins announced the signing in a release on their official website on Tuesday evening, describing it as a major international coup. Zero Tackle reported the deal runs through 2027 and 2028.
The 31-year-old five-eighth has played more than 350 first-grade matches across the NRL and Super League, starring for the Canberra Raiders and Warrington Wolves, the club said. Williams made his Test debut for England in 2015 and was appointed captain in 2023.
The move had been widely expected. Warrington confirmed in February that Williams would leave at the end of the 2026 Super League season to take up an opportunity with the Dolphins, but the NRL club had not formally announced the deal until now.

Williams will join a halves group that includes Tongan international Isaiya Katoa and Brad Schneider, and he will reunite with England teammates Herbie Farnworth and Morgan Knowles at Redcliffe.
Dolphins chief executive Terry Reader said the signing was another significant step forward for the club.
“George is one of the most accomplished halves in the game and to have someone of his experience and leadership joining the Dolphins is a huge boost for our squad,” Reader said. “He has performed at the highest level in both the NRL and Super League and has proven himself as a leader on the international stage with England.”
“George brings a strong kicking game, competitiveness and a wealth of experience that will complement the players we already have within our spine. We’re really excited about the opportunity to bring George to the Dolphins and to see what he can add alongside Isaiya, Brad and the rest of our squad from 2027.”

Before he arrives at the Dolphins, Williams will lead England against Tonga, coached by Kristian Woolf, in their Rugby League World Cup opener at HBF Park in Perth on Saturday 17 October. The pair then join forces at the Dolphins from 2027.
