FREE: The Plunge’s Black Book: Horses Running At Rosehill 19/3
March 18, 2022
A big day of Group 1 racing this Saturday with the Golden Slipper, Rosehill Guineas, George Ryder, Galaxy and Ranvet spearheading a huge day of Group 1 racing. I’ve opened up the black book and picked out a potential dry track improver in the slipper and a Godolphin sprinter chasing G1 glory.

Rosehill Race 8 – Russian Conquest
Putting a line through Russian Conquest’s disappointing 4th in the G2 Reisling last start where she clearly didn’t handle the heavy 10. Important to note that we are currently sitting on a soft 7 and I believe if it dries out any more then this girl will come right into it. I was taken by her 2nd behind race favourite Coolangatta in the Magic Millions. Fitness wise, she will benefit from that Reisling run where Cooloangatta connections have opted to bring their filly here fresh after avoiding the wet tracks in lead up races. I love the fact that Berry sticks after winning on She’s Extreme last week. Good value in a wide open slipper.

Rosehill Race 9 – Paulele
Paulele also represents great value in the G1 Galaxy in what looks like a reserve grade G1 handicap without the likes of Nature Strip and Eduardo. The Godolphin camp have kept him fresh after an impressive 1st-up victory in the G3 Eskimo Prince where he showed versatility pressing forward to lead all the way. I don’t see the 17 gate as that much of a hinderance where Rachel King will have the option to roll forward and sit wide on the speed or roll back and fly home from out wide off a hot speed. The 53kg is a gift and the $12 looks juicy.
