Bullish for a midweek meeting…worrying. Alas, cracking conditions for racing at Belmont, warm 32 degrees forecast with a moderate easterly through the afternoon and track a Good 4 with a late start of 2:19pm.

Race 1 – 2:19PM FREE ENTRY TO BELMONT PARK HANDICAP (1000 METRES)

Bullish we can kick the card off with a winner in Bisector. Ran them ragged 1st up over the 1100m to break her maiden when really breaking them open a long way out and this filly is only much better suited in a race she can lead and dictate back over the 1000m. Big easterly blowing, Holly Watson rides these horses that roll along out in front very well and I have queries around just how strong the remaining runners in the field are and whether they will be suited over the 1000m (with some even dropping back in trip). Leads, rolls, kicks and fingers crossed, wins.

Thought the last start win of this galloper was enormous. Sat 3 deep the trip on the Scarpside track at Pinjarra but was still able to put away very impressive subsequent winner Renato (who put away a couple of very nice horses in that victory) with authority late. The start prior to that beaten only a length very impressive type Costazita in a very strong run race and finds a CL1 here that seemingly lacks a bit of depth. Maps for the run of the race from the barrier, she gives me a feel off the strength of that last start win she can certainly go on with it.

Gave this horse a hope 1st up at double figures in a Saturday 3yo contest when having to tramp deep throughout and beaten 4.5L at the finish over the 1100m. Drops back into a midweek CL1 here and gets a hugely positive jockey change with Paul Harvey returning to the saddle in a race incredibly thin from a depth perspective. Need only go to this horses 2 starts prior to a break over this trip he’s run 3rd beaten under 2L Baby Paris and 3rd beaten under 2L when off the track throughout Revitup.

The barrier makes things a little tricky but from the chute, with an abundance of speed drawn all across the line, trust in Harvey to jam him in somewhere with a back to follow into it and suspect he’s going to be very hard to hold out. Sub $3 with a tricky little map set-up just a touch thin, happy to bet up if we see $3.30+ late.

Strike

Want to have something small on Strike 1st up for the new yard. Loved the recent trial under Alan Kennedy when not asked for any effort and has traditionally been a horse that you need to catch fresh. Winkers go on in a race with an abundance of speed and given how he was ridden in his recent trial, the quieter might be the better.

Race 5 -4:40PM COOL RIDGE HANDICAP (1200 METRES)

Hola Marea

Confident Hola Marea can be breaking through 1st up. Winner fresh last preparation before being beaten 1L War Gem and Mosquito (both subsequent winners), 1200m CL1 winner defeating OIy’s Choice (subsequent winner), then 4th in a 0MW 3yo contest beaten under 2L Brave Venture, Cold Shizzle and Extra Secret (all subsequent winners). Finds a CL3 that lacks depth, recent trial was super coasting to the line in-front of impressive subsequent winner Desert Vixen and maps for the run of the race from the barrier. Brings the strongest form and still has plenty of upside.

Race 6 – 5:15PM AMELIA PARK HANDICAP (1300 METRES)

Today has to be the day for Seberate. 3rd up now in the campaign, 1st up 5th beaten a tad over 2L Hardly Ever, Real Danger and My Dilemma before last start bumped into very impressive filly Rear Admiral and Rebelzone who was a monster run on Saturday just gone in defeat when heavily supported in the market, while also beating home subsequent winners Amber Highway and Baby Blues in the process, a proper form race which markets since have reflected. Up to 1300m, finds a panels weaker 0MW clash and from the barrier should enjoy close enough to the run of the race. Hoping he and Simon Miller can get the job done for their great mate Deane Lester in a very tough week for all involved, won’t find a better placed horse on the program.

If there was to be a blow out, think Prized Nemesis can bob up into the money at big odds. Loved the trial in a very slick heat prior to his two runs this prep when only 3L adrift of subsequent dual Listed winner How’s The Serenity without being really extended in the trial. Has had genuine excuses at both efforts this prep, gets a host of noted, positive gear changes and the booking of Clint Johnston Porter catches the eye.
