F1 Styrian GP Preview: Our Expert Tips & Staking Plan

Verstappen dominated during qualifying but with Bottas looking to make up for a rookie error in the pit lane, will it be an easy win for Red Bull?

Top 10

Carlos Sainz was one of the most disappointing performances in qualifying but it was a mistake during Q2 that stopped him from progressing which will see him start from 12th place.

He is paying $2.25 to finish in the top 10 which makes it the bet of the race for us when you consider Leclerc was able to finish in 7th place.

Ricciardo will also have a point to prove after a disappointing 13th place finish and when you consider that Norris was best of the rest he should be finishing in the top 10 given he drives the same car.

  • 500 units Sainz to finish top 10 @ $2.25 – (potential profit = $625)
  • 250 units Ricciardo to finish top 10 @ $1.53 – (potential profit = $132.5)
Market outlay = 750 units ($500)

Fastest Lap

This could be the most interesting market of the race with several drivers having a chance of taking out the fastest lap.

Max could well skip away and give himself time to stop for fresh boots late in the race so we should keep him safe.

We could see Valteri Bottas held up in the early stages of the race before showing some pace to fill the fourth spot behind Perez & ahead of Perez. If this happens he could have a nice gap to Norris which would allow him to stop for fresh tyres and push for the fastest lap.

The last candidate we can make a case for is Lando Norris who was lightning in quali and typically improves on race day. He did manage to finish with the fastest lap in this race last year and at $41 we can’t say no.

  • 300 units Verstappen @ $2.50 – (potential profit = $100)
  • 250 units Bottas @ $4.50 – (potential profit = $475)
  • 100 units Norris @ $41 – (potential profit = $3,450)

*Profit worked out on both bets combined

Market outlay = 650 units ($650)

Race Winner

Verstappen is very short at $1.57 but he just wins in our book.

It’s really that simple.

  • 250 units Verstappen @ $1.57 – (potential profit = $142.5)
Market outlay = 250 units ($250)

Winning Margin

Verstappen qualified 0.226 seconds faster than Hamilton which means if you were to multiply that by the 71 laps it takes to finish the Styrian GP you’d have Verstappen finishing 16.04 seconds in front of Hamilton but we have to consider that Hamilton should be able to stay with DRS range for about 5-10 laps which should bring that margin back a little.

The predicted wet weather could completely change this so we’re going to stress that you should wait until close to race time to place this bet as we won’t be having this bet if the rain look like arriving

  • *200 units Over 8 Seconds @ $2.10 – (potential profit = $220)
Market outlay = 200 units ($100)

Staking Plan
  • 500 units Sainz to finish top 10 @ $2.25 – (potential profit = $625)
  • 250 units Ricciardo to finish top 10 @ $1.53 – (potential profit = $132.5)
  • 300 units Verstappen @ $2.50 – (potential profit = $100)
  • 250 units Bottas @ $4.50 – (potential profit = $475)
  • 100 units Norris @ $41 – (potential profit = $3,450)
  • 250 units Verstappen @ $1.57 – (potential profit = $142.5)
  • *200 units Over 8 Seconds @ $2.10 – (potential profit = $220)
Total race outlay = 1,850 units ($1,850)
Highest Potential Profit = $4,570
