F1 Portuguese GP Preview: Our Expert Tips & Staking Plan

The Portuguese GP grid has been set with Bottas on pole but with Hamilton & Verstappen in red-hot form we think we have found some great bets for you to look at as we look to build on the solid profit we have made in just two races.

Once again we wanted to wait until after qualifying to post our tips as their is little previous form on this track & it’s a good thing we did with Bottas taking pole.

We’ve found some nice bets and placed them below.

2020 Season Tipping Results:
  • 4,002 Units Of Profit ($4,002 Based On $1 Per Unit Staked)
  • 92 Tips | 22 Wins
  • 23% Strike Rate

2021 Season Tipping Results:

Fastest Lap

We’re looking to outsmart the bookies here with Hamilton paying $1.93 to win the race but $3 to have the fastest lap.

Hamilton was lightening in Q2 setting a lap time of 1:17.968 which was nearly 0.5 seconds faster than Bottas & Verstappen.

That being said, Verstappen did set the fastest time in Q3 but had the time deleted due to exceeding track limits so we’re going to have a saver on him.

It would be safe to say that if Hamilton sees clear air he will be taking the fastest lap.

  • 200 units Hamilton @ $3 – (potential profit = $400)
  • 100 units Verstappen @ $3 – (potential profit = $200)
Market outlay = 350 units ($350)

Top 6

Not a lot of value on offer here but it’s always a great way to bank some extra profit while having some bets / cars to cheer on back in the field.

Norris has been impressive this season and will start from 7th spot on the grid so he only has one place to make up.

This can be a tough track to overtake on but Norris was quicker than Ocon & Sainz in Q1 & Q2 only to finish less than 0.050 seconds behind the two in Q3 so the likelihood of him overtaking at least one car is high.

We also want to have something on Sainz to finish in the top 6 as he is Mr Reliable & typically stays out of trouble which means the likelihood of him holding his 5th place is high.

  • 100 units Norris @ $1.57 – (potential profit = $57)
  • 100 units Sainz @ $1.53 – (potential profit = $53)
Market outlay = 200 units ($200)

Race Winner

We’ve covered the Hamilton win with a fastest lap bet so we can afford to have play on 2 other chances at odds & hope that Hamilton flies late but can’t catch the winner.

Bottas redeemed himself from an embarrassing performance in Italy to finish in pole position & is paying an incredible $4.20 to win the race on a track that can be difficult to overtake on.

As stated above, Verstappen did set the fastest time in Q3 before having it deleted & he has been on fire this season so the $3.25 also looks a decent play

  • 100 units Verstappen @ $3.25 – (potential profit = $225)
  • 50 units Bottas @ $4.20 – (potential profit = $160)
Market outlay = 150 units ($150)

1st Driver Retirement

We’ve had a play on Mazepin or ‘Mazespin’ in both races and collected at $13 in Bahrain so we can afford to have another play on him here at a track that is like a rollercoaster.

  • 25 units Mazepin @ $4.05 – (potential profit = $76.25)
Market outlay = 25 units ($25)

Staking Plan
  • 200 units Hamilton To Have Fastest Lap @ $3
  • 100 units Verstappen To Have Fastest Lap @ $3
  • 100 units Norris To Finish Top 6 @ $1.57
  • 100 units Sainz To Finish Top 6 @ $1.53
  • 100 units Verstappen To Win @ $3.25
  • 50 units Bottas To Win @ $4.20
  • 25 units Mazepin 1st Retirement @ $4.05
Total race outlay = 725 units ($725)
