F1 Emilia-Romagna Preview: Our Expert Tips & Staking Plan

We managed to pick up 333 units of profit ($333) in Bahrain & now we head to Italy for the Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix where we have 11 selections.

We decided to wait until after qualifying to announce our tips as there is very little form to go on at this circuit and it looks to have been a winning move as Mercedes / Hamilton may have taken pole but with Bottas so far down the grid the Red Bull’s will be pouring the pressure on through the race which may present some value in the outright winner market.

2020 Season Tipping Results:
  • 4,002 Units Of Profit ($4,002 Based On $1 Per Unit Staked)
  • 92 Tips | 22 Wins
  • 23% Strike Rate

2021 Season Tipping Results:
(We’re basing 1 unit as $1 for this service)

Fastest Lap

This is probably the most interesting market as it looks as if Red Bull & Mercedes will be fighting for victory the whole race which could leave it open for someone to come in and put fresh tyres on late and claim the fastest lap.

There was only 0.487s between first and eighth in qualifying which suggests the person with low fuel and fresh tyres late in the race will take the fastest lap.

There is enough value here to spread our units and still be able to back the favourites to minimise the potential loss.

  • 30 units Norris @ $21 – (potential profit = $600)
  • 15 units Gasly @ $34 – (potential profit = $495)
  • 15 units Leclerc @ $21 – (potential profit = $300)
  • 30 units Perez @ $5 – (potential profit = $120)
  • 35 units Hamilton @ $3 – (potential profit = $70)
Market outlay = 125 units ($125)

Top 6

This is probably the market that offers the least value as the bookies offer under $2 for the top 8 drivers and with this track proving difficult to overtake on it’s hard to see anyone outside the top 8 cracking the top 6.

We want to run with two drivers that may be short but their cars look to be reliable and both looked extremely fast in qualifying.

  • 100 units Norris @ $1.57 – (potential profit = $57)
  • 100 units Ricciardo @ $1.72 – (potential profit = $72)
Market outlay = 200 units ($200)

Race Winner

Hamilton may have claimed pole position but he will be fighting off the Red Bull’s every lap here and we’re thinking the $6.50 offered for Perez is massive overs after he was only 0.035s behind Hamilton in qualifying.

The start of the race could decide victory as Perez is on the soft tyres which will give him an advantage running into the first corner with Hamilton and Verstappen on mediums.

This track offers little opportunity to overtake so if Perez doesn’t make a lunge and take the lead he could struggle as he will have to pit earlier on a track that also has the longest pit time of any track on the F1 calendar.

  • 100 units Perez @ $6.50 – (potential profit = $550)
  • 100 units Hamilton @ $1.80 – (potential profit = $80)
Market outlay = 200 units ($200)

1st Driver Retirement

Generally a difficult market to pick but this race certainly presents some value with two rookies who are known to be reckless in the heat of the moment.

Mazepin has been nicknamed ‘MazeSpin’ after crashing out in Bahrain & Tsunoda loves taking a risk which saw him split his car in half during qualifying.

Both drivers may take a lunge in the first lap on a track that is very unforgiving so we want to have a small play on each.

  • 25 units Mazepin @ $3.54 – (potential profit = $63.50)
  • 25 units Tsunoda @ $13.25 – (potential profit = $306)
Market outlay = 200 units ($200)

Staking Plan
  • 30 units Norris fastest lap @ $21
  • 15 units Gasly fastest lap @ $34
  • 15 units Leclerc fastest lap @ $21
  • 30 units Perez fastest lap @ $5
  • 35 units Hamilton fastest lap @ $3
  • 100 units Norris top 6 @ $1.57
  • 100 units Ricciardo top 6 @ $1.72
  • 100 units Perez race winner @ $6.50
  • 100 units Hamilton race winner @ $1.80
  • 25 units Mazepin 1st retirement @ $3.54
  • 25 units Tsunoda 1st retirement @ $13.25
Total race outlay = 575 units ($575)
