Channel Nine is set to axe Eddie McGuire’s Tuesday night edition of Footy Classified ahead of the 2027 AFL season, according to News Corp’s CODE Sports.
The report, published by news.com.au on Friday afternoon, says McGuire has been told his time on the Tuesday show is up as Nine shakes up its football coverage for next year.
The Monday night edition of Footy Classified will survive, The Australian’s Media Street column reported, as the network looks to focus more on digital platforms in 2027.
Nine had not publicly confirmed the change at the time of writing.
What stays on Nine
According to CODE Sports, the Monday night Classified panel of Sam McClure, Matthew Lloyd, Jimmy Bartel and Damian Barrett will return in 2027, as will the Sunday Footy Show featuring Lloyd, Tony Jones, Nathan Brown and Barrett.

McGuire is also expected to keep a significant role at the network, including hosting Nine’s Melbourne Cup Carnival coverage and fronting football “special events”, the report said.
An awkward twist for JAM TV
McGuire’s own production company, JAM TV, makes Footy Classified. It also produces Nine’s Footy Furnace, which is reportedly set to take on a bigger role to help fill the gap left by the Tuesday show.
The move comes as Seven’s rival panel show Agenda Setters continues to grow, having expanded to three nights a week this season.
Nine shifted McGuire’s edition of Footy Classified from Wednesday to Tuesday nights for the 2025 season, a move confirmed by a Nine spokesman at the time, to avoid going head to head with Seven’s ratings hit The Front Bar. James Hird joined McGuire on the Tuesday panel as part of that change.
Footy Classified launched in 2007 and has long been one of the most talked-about AFL panel shows, with the footy media landscape shifting rapidly since Seven’s push to win a bigger share of football content.
