Day 4 Olympic Preview–Aussies in action today 27/7

This is an exciting day in the sport of surfing. On Tuesday, Olympic medals will be handed out for the first time ever, and there are Aussies in the mix.
Surfing–Quarterfinals start @ 8 AM AEST
It is an exciting day in surfing on Tuesday as Owen Wright of Culburra Beach is in the men’s final eight, and Sally Fitzgibbons of Gerroa is in the women’s final eight. Wright, a four-time World Men’s Tour champion, is up against Lucca Mesinas of Peru in the fourth quarterfinal heat (9:48 am), and Fitzgibbons, who is a 12-time World Women’s Tour champion is up against Amuro Tsuzuki of Japan in the fourth quarterfinal heat (12:12 pm). The semifinals start at 12:48pm, the bronze medal matches start at 3:16 pm, and the gold medal matches start at 4:46 pm. Please note the gold medal matches in surfing were initially to take place on Wednesday, but have been rescheduled.
Field Hockey–Australia vs. Argentina @ 10:30 AM AEST
The best field hockey game on Tuesday is the first game, as Australia takes on Argentina in a battle for first place in Group A. So far the Aussies have beaten host Japan 5-3, and India 7-1. Blake Govers of Wollongong leads the Aussie attack with three goals in two games.

Swimming–Finals featuring Australians Start @ 11:51 AM AEST
After six swimming medals in the pool so far, there are three more medal chances on Tuesday. In the women’s 100m backstroke final (11:51 AM AEST), there are two Aussies–Kaylee McKeown of Redcliffe, and Emily Seebohm of Adelaide. McKeown set the world record in the event at the Australian Olympic Trials with a time of 57.45 seconds. Seebohm meanwhile won a silver medal in the 100m backstroke back at the 2012 Olympic Games in London, and won the gold medal in the women’s 100m backstroke at the 2015 World Aquatics Championships in Kazan. Kylie Masse of Canada enters the event as the reigning world champion,
In the men’s 100m backstroke final (11:59 AM AEST), Mitch Larkin of Buderim is in lane three. Like Seebohm, Larkin won the gold medal in the 100m backstroke at the 2015 World Aquatics Championships in Kazan.
