We are heading into the final weekend of the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo in 2021. There are still some very exciting events left. Let’s take a look.
Women’s Beach Volleyball–Gold Medal Game Starting at 12:30 PM
The Australian team of Mariafe Artacho Del Solar and Taliqua Clancy are up against the American duo of April Ross and Alix Klineman. This is the second time in the history of the Olympic Games that Australia is in the gold medal game in women’s beach volleyball. At the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney, Natalie Cook and Kerri Pottharst defeated the Brazilian team of Shelda Bede and Adriana Behar.
Men’s Lightweight Boxing Semifinals–(Harry Garside vs. Andy Cruz–Cuba) @ 3:47 PM
In one of the cooler stories of the Olympic Games, Harry Garside of Mooroolbark, the ballet-dancing plumber, is one win away from reaching men’s lightweight gold medal bout. Problem is Garside will be facing a boxer competing for a nation with a rich boxing history, in Cuba’s Andy Cruz. Keyshawn Davis of the United States is facing Hovhannes Bachkov of Armenia in the other semifinal.
Women’s Javelin–(Kelsey-Lee Barber) @ 9:50 PM
In one of Australia’s best chances for track and field gold, Kelsey-Lee Barber of Canberra enters the women’s javelin as the reigning world champion from Doha in 2019. She is one of three Australian women in the javelin final, as she is joined by Mackenzie Little and Kathryn Mitchell.
