Cox Plate contender ruled out
October 22, 2021

After a secondary veterinary inspection on Friday, former international galloper Gold Trip has been scratched from tomorrow’s Cox Plate.
According to Racing Victoria vets, the now Ciaron Maher & David Eustace trained runner had not improved since their inspection on Thursday.
Co-trainer David Eustace spoke strongly on radio earlier this morning.
“We’re 100% satisfied that the horse is in very good shape to run very well in the Cox Plate and the evidence behind that supports it as well. So that’s our stance,” said Eustace.
“If there was an issue with his welfare then we wouldn’t have galloped him at The Valley
on Saturday,” he said.

Meanwhile New Zealand raider Callsign Mav has been passed fit to run in tomorrow’s Cox Plate.
Zaaki remains the $2.60 favourite for tomorrow’s Cox Plate.
