Coolmore Classic Review: What The Jockeys Said

Con Te Partiro stamped herself as a top-class mare after a dominant display in the Coolmore Classic.

Tim Clark (Con Te Partiro – 1st)

It worked out perfectly, the other day I probably made a mistake, just rode her a bit too aggressively and too close to a hot speed. It didn’t look to be much speed today after Sweet Deal got scratched, we just wanted to bang her out and get her comfortable. Just have her where she was happy. We were unsure about the ground, but she got into a great spot, they didn’t go quick and I wanted to make sure that she was right there, because she can be a little bit one-paced.

Kerrin McEvoy (Miss Fabulass – 2nd)

Great run. We got back and travelled really well through the ground. Tempo didn’t help but she picked up well to run second.

Kathy O’Hara (Noire – 3rd)

Terrific effort from her. From the barrier, she was wide from there. She ran right up to her best.

Andrew Adkins (Benitoite – 4th)

Top run and snuck up the inside. She might appreciate 1700m.

Robbie Dolan (Sweet Scandal – 5th)

She’s run really well. If she draws a gate would be good to see what happened. Ran really well and hit the line well.

Tom Marquand (Spanish Whisper – 6th)

Found it really hard once I took her off the bridle.

Brenton Avdulla (Dawn Dawn – 7th)

I thought she ran a credible race but didn’t get through the conditions at all.

James McDonald (Pohutakawa – 8th)

Just didn’t have a horse to travel through that ground. She didn’t handle that today. The track is bottomless.

Jason Collett (El Dorado Dreaming – 9th)

Tracked into it like the winner.

Andrew Mallyon (Delectation Girl – 10th)

I felt with no tempo she over travelled a bit. Think she is better ridden a little further back with more tempo.

Jay Ford (Acting – 11th)

She struggled in the conditions.

Rachel King  (Invincible Gem – 12th)

Travelled up super but on the turn that was it.

Jye McNeil (Fiesta – 13th)

Had a nice tractable run throughout the race but didn’t like the conditions.

Michael Walker (Oceanex – 14th)

Just didn’t handle it. She hung in the whole way.

Tommy Berry (Sylvia’s Mother – 15th)

Obviously didn’t handle the track.
