Chris Gotterup of Easton, Maryland won the 2026 John Deere Classic at TPC Deere Run in Silvis, Illinois on Sunday. For Gotterup, it was his third PGA title in 2026 and fifth PGA title of his career. Gotterup’s three wins in 2026 are tied with Matt Fitzpatrick of Sheffield, England for the most PGA titles in 2026. Gotterup also won the Sony Open and 2026 Waste Management Phoenix Open. Fitzpatrick won the Valspar Championship, RBC Heritage and Zurich Classic of New Orleans.
Over the last four days, Gotterup had a winning score of -20. He had a first round score of five-under-par 66, second round score of three-under-par 68, a third round score of three-under-par 68, and a fourth round score of nine-under-par 62.
Gotterup’s most notable shot came on the par-five second hole in round three on Saturday when he recorded an eagle. Gotterup had a 327 yard tee shot, 218 yard approach shot, and a putt of 32 feet and 11 inches. Then in the fourth round, Gotterup had nine birdies and zero bogeys.
There were seven other American golfers in contention. Max Homa of Burbank, California was alone in second place and one stroke back at -19. There was then a three-way tie for third place at -18. Here you could find 2009 United States Open champion Lucas Glover of Greenville, South Carolina, Lee Hodges of Huntsville, Alabama and Ben Kohles of Dallas, Texas. There was then a three-way tie for sixth place at -17. Here you could find Mac Meissner of Charleston, South Carolina, Doug Ghim of Des Plaines, Illinois and Jackson Suber III of Tampa, Florida.
Gotterup has now won five PGA Tour events in his career. He also won the 2024 Myrtle Beach Classic and 2025 Scottish Open.
